Happy Mother's Day

I want to take the opportunity to wish the Mother's reading this post today a very Happy Mother's Day. This is your special day and I pray each of you have an exceptional day.

It is not easy being a Mother but we all make it and give praise to the Lord for the children He has given us. The first time you hold your child in your arms you know right then that being a mother is going to be one of the most wonderful things the Lord has given you. It doesn't make any difference if this is your first child or your tenth. The Lord has given us compensation for the trials and tribulations we have as we raise our children. Some have more problems than others but no matter all of it is worth it.

You see your child take his or her first step and hear their first words. What joy!
When they fall taking their first step you want to be the one that takes the hurt, you just don't want your child to get hurt.

When you hold on to that small hand when crossing a busy street you feel the love you have for your child. When the child falls and hurts themselves just giving them a hug and a kiss and telling them it will all be better. When your child looks up into your face and says "Mommy, I love you" everything is worth all the work.

When you see your child in his/her first Christmas program you burst with pride and think to yourself that is my child. When you see them play ball and they hit that ball whether it goes way out or just a few feet from home plate you are so proud.

When your child graduates from high school you are so proud that you don't know if you are going to be able to contain yourself but you do. You want to spend some time with them after the graduation exercise but they want to be with their friends. It is because you love them that you give them a hug and kiss and tell them to be extra careful and that you will see them later. Oh, the time goes so slow before you see them again.

Then comes the time they find someone and they fall in love and want to get married. You think to yourself about all the years that have passed and about the happy times along with the sad times. You tell them you wish them all the blessings of their new life all the while your heart is breaking then you think, I won't worry as much as they will have someone to look after them. If a Mother only knew, the worry is just beginning.

Then you are blessed with grandchildren, what a wonderful experience. You love them just as much as you do your own children but in a completely different way. You watch them grow and the same things happen all over again and you wish you could help your child out with some of the problems but somehow they manage just as you did.

The cycle continues, there are great-grandchildren and you thought you didn't have anymore love to give but there it is, more love than you had ever dreamed you could have.

God's love is the same way. He has more love than what we ever dreamed He could have. We may lose our way but we find our way back and He still loves us and is so glad we found our way back to Him.

Happy Mother's Day!

May you know the love, joy, and peace of the Lord!

Why Would God Do That

John 3:16; "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life".

I use this Scripture quite a bit. It tells us so much about God and His love for us. Even though I love many people outside of my family I just don't know that I would be able to give my life for the world, I could for my family and there is no doubt about that. I couldn't give my son up for the world either but God did and it was for you and me.

I have heard people say that God loves too much to allow someone to go to hell. It is because of His love that He is able to do this. It isn't God's fault that a person goes to hell, it is there fault. God gave them, you, and me the chance to have everlasting life or not to have everlasting life. It is up to us to do with that chance. Which one will you take?

If you were able to give your son up for the world and said if whoever would believe in him would have eternal life, but to the ones that wouldn't believe in him they wouldn't have eternal life, would you back away from what you had said and go ahead give to them eternal life? I am sure you wouldn't, would you?

The ones that believe in Jesus love Him and want to obey Him. We obey His commandments. It is an on going thing not just once in awhile or when we want to. John 14:21; "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him". Even though our obedience to Jesus is not perfect, it has to be a real thing.

Back to where God loves too much to allow someone to go to hell, if you had two children and one obeyed what you told him/her but the other didn't, would you give discipline to the one that obeyed or would you reward the child that never obeyed you? It is just that simple. It doesn't mean you don't love the child that never obeys but you can't really give to that child like you would the one that obeyed, can you? So it is with God.

In a family if there is no love, compassion, understanding, forgiveness, or obedience all there would be in the family is chaos. Well, it is the same in the family of God. God wants a family that is obedient and not full of confusion. Wouldn't it be terrible to live in a family that was always full of chaos? By obeying the Ten Commandments and other commandments we are making His family obedient. But just obeying these commandments will not get us to heaven; it is through Jesus Christ that we can go to heaven.

Can you understand a little better how God can send someone to hell? It isn't because He wants to it is because they won't believe in His Son and they won't live a Christ like life. It may sound like I have been talking in circles, I haven't meant to but I would like for people to understand it is because of God's love that He doesn't want anyone to go to hell but it is up to the person if they will have eternal life and not go to hell or will they chose not to believe in His Son and go to hell.

Thank you for stopping by and may you always feel the love, joy, and peace of the Lord!

Why Are We Never Satisfied

I have come to the conclusion we humans are never satisfied. It doesn't matter what we have or what we have had in our life time, we want more. Why is it with us?

I believe we don't take the time to count our blessings. I know each one of us have enough blessings that we should be satisfied. Nope! We always want more.

First off God created the world and all things for us to share with Him. Seven times God said what He created was "good", in verses 4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, and 31 in Genesis 1. He created the world to reveal His glory and be a place where we could share His joy. All He created should be enough to make us thankful.

God created humans as a triune being (body, soul, and spirit) and we have a mind, emotion, and will with which we can act in response to God freely as Lord. We are able to worship, serve Him, and love Him. God wants us to have fellowship with Him at all times.

God has given us free will. He will never make us to do anything even though He may want us to something, He will never make us. We are free to love, obey, worship, and fellowship with Him. We, as Christians can make known to Him our requests and as long as it is in line with His will we will receive it. We, as Christians can ask Him for help. Isaiah 50:9; "Behold, the Lord God will help me..." We don't need the help of anyone else.

We have been blessed with our life. God gave us our life but it is up to us to do with it what we should. Again, God will never force us to do anything. What becomes of our life is up to us. We may hit some rough spots in this life but it is still up to us what we do with these rough spots. Are we going to wallow in them or are we going to get up and try and again? Are we going to give praises and thanks to the Lord? Yes, it is hard to praise and be thankful when things are going rough but we can do it. We will either lean on God during these times or abandon Him. If we lean on Him, we can ask Him for the strength to endure but if we abandon Him we have nothing.

Do you have the salvation of the Lord?  Then you are blessed.  You are in the family of the Lord.  When you leave this earth you will be heaven with your heavenly Father.  What a wonderful blessing!  You have so much to look forward to.

Do you have a family? Then you have been blessed. That doesn't mean we will always get along with the family but we can go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to help us. Believe me, He will help you.

Do you have a home? Then you have been blessed. We may not live in a mansion but who has to have a mansion anyway? Be thankful and praise the Lord for what you have. There are people that don't have a home.

Do you have a car or truck? Then you are blessed. You may not have the car you really want but you have something to get you round and about. You can go to the store, doctor, friends/families home to visit. Are you praising the Lord for what you have?

Do you have food to eat? Then you are blessed. God gave you the food to nourish your body. It may not be the food you like but you have food and should be thanking and praising the Lord for what He has given you to eat.

Do you have clothes? Then you are blessed. God has blessed you with clothes, they may not be expensive clothes but you have clothes to cover your body. Take care of them and give thanks and praises to the Lord.

Can you see? Then you are blessed. There are people that cannot see. If you can see then you can see all the beauty God has given us to see. What wonderful beauty there is for us to see! You can see to read the Word of God. You are able to read all about what the Lord has done for you and will do for you. Praise the Lord.

Can you talk? Then you are blessed. You can tell your husband/wife/kids/Mom or Dad you love them. You can communicate with family and friends. You can talk with the Lord, which is awesome in itself.

Can you touch and feel? Then you are blessed. You can touch and feel your loved ones. You can touch a flower and feel its softness. Praise the Lord.

These are only a few things I have mentioned. There are many more. Can you think of some more things to be thankful for? I am sure that you can.

So why are we humans wanting more and more? Why can't we be satisfied with what the Lord has given to us? We just need to count our blessings each and everyday. We need to be praising the Lord for things He has given us.

Jeremiah 17:7; "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is".

May you always know the love, joy, and peace of the Lord!

Leaving It With God

Proverbs 15:29; "The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous".

We pray to the Lord to take care of a problem for us or to fulfill a dream we may have. Many times our problem is, we never really let go of the problem or give the request completely to Him about what we want. What do we do? We take it back and try to handle the problem on our own and try to figure out a way of getting exactly what we want. Do we think He may be to slow at answering our request? Just remember it is done in His time and not ours.

Sometimes we may put our trust in another person to solve our problem or to help us get what we have asked of the Lord. Psalm 118:8; "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man". The Word of God is telling us to trust in the Lord and not put our confidence in man. I wonder why it tells us that. Could it be because God will do a much better job? I know the Lord will do a better job than I can do.

Psalm 37:7; "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him..." The next time you ask the Lord to take care of something for you, be sure to leave it there, God is capable of taking care of anything you may ask of Him.

I received a poem about giving it to the Lord and leaving it with Him.

Broken Dreams

As children bring
their broken toys
with tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams
to God
because He is my friend!

But then instead
of leaving Him
in peace to work alone,
I hung around
and tired to help
with ways
that were my own.

At last I snatched them back
and cried,
"How can you be so slow?"
"My child," He said
"What could I do?
You never did let go."

Why Do We Go To Church

Why do we go to church? I go so that I can learn more about the Lord and His Word. I don't think anyone will live long enough to know everything there is to know about the Lord but I want to learn as much as possible.

I also love to go so that I can praise and worship the Lord with other believers. When we are praising the Lord there are times I know the Holy Spirit is there with us. It is a feeling that a person will never forget. It is really the most wonderful and awesome feeling to feel the presence of the Lord. I want to always feel His presence at church, home, walking, shopping, or whatever I am doing.

I can feel the presence of the Lord when I am talking with Dave. When we are discussing the Word and the Lord I know He is there with us. Again, I say the feeling is awesome.

Back to the question I asked in the beginning. Why do you go to church? Do you go so you can visit with your friends, play video games on you cell phone, whisper/talk when the pastor is trying to give his message, make out your grocery list, write a letter, or what?

I have told you why I go to church. I get so angry when I see someone playing games on their cell phone. I have seen a woman making out her grocery list and of all things a person writing a letter. Playing games on the cell phone, making a grocery list out, or writing a letter is something that can and should be done at some other time.

Our attention should be directed towards the pastor and what he is saying in his message. When a pastor is giving his message it is something he feels everyone should hear. He has worked to get the message ready.

The anger I get when I see this is what I call 'righteous anger'. I am not calling anyone names or calling them a godless person, I feel they are defiling the house of the Lord. After all, isn't the house of the Lord supposed to be a place of worship and communion? When you are doing things such as playing games on a cell phone, making out a grocery list, writing a letter, or whispering/talking how can you be worshipping or listening to the message?

You can find in Luke 19:45-46; "And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought; v. 46 Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves". Jesus drove from God's house the ungodly, greedy, and those who were destroying the true spiritual meaning. Jesus' concern is for holiness, dedication, and godly honesty within His church. He wants the church to be holy, a place for sincere worship and communion with Him.

Playing games on a cell phone, making a grocery list out, writing a letter, whispering or talking isn't making the house of the Lord a den of thieves but it is taking away the holiness it is meant to be. We just need to remember what the house of the Lord is all about and to make sure nothing is taken away from it. The next time you start to do something like the above mentioned why not say to yourself "I don't need to be doing this" and enjoy the worship service; join in on the worshipping and also listen to what the message is about.

May you always enjoy the love, joy, and peace of the Lord!
