Jenifer called Dave and me tonight to ask us to pray for a little boy that was hit in the face with a softball. His Dad had taken him to Urgent Care and they sent him on to Children's Mercy Hospital. Of course Dave and I started praying immediately, I know God heard our prayers and I know He heard the ones praying for this little boy on the softball team.
There are so many people and things in the world today that need to have prayers said for them. Prayer is one of the best things we can do for anyone and all should pray for one another daily.
Last night I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep, I was praying for the Lord to let me go back to sleep as I was so tired. I know He heard my prayer but sleep still didn't come. Then I remembered about a post Jenifer, author of Sweet Blessings had sometime back that said if you couldn't sleep perhaps the Lord wanted you to pray. I started praying, I didn't know for what or for who but the Lord knew who of for what I was praying for. I was interceding for someone or something. Have you ever prayed for someone or something that you had no idea what it was about? I have several times and when I get done praying, peace is there and I just seem to be so relaxed. Isn't God wonderful?
After I prayed I was able to go to sleep and I also had a very peaceful sleep.
We don't have to know someone to pray for them. When a pastor in church asks you to pray for someone you don't always know them but because the pastor has asked you to pray for someone you do. God is a very important person and He was asking me to pray for someone or something, I had no idea what it was all about but I am so glad I prayed as the Lord had wanted me to. I will never know who it was or what it was that I was praying for but that isn't important, obeying God is the important thing.
James 5:16; "...pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much".
If the Bible tells us to pray one for another then it ought to be done. The Word of God will never tell us to do something that is not right.
The next time you are trying to sleep and sleep just won't come why not try praying? It just may be God telling you He needs you to pray for someone or something. Remember you don't have to know what you are praying for; the Holy Spirit will guide you in prayer.
May you always know the love, joy, and peace of the Lord!

Thank you so much for your prayers last night! Praise God Collin is okay. I do believe that sometimes when we can not sleep, God is calling us to pray. We may not know why or who for, but we just pray. It is so wonderful that you realized that last night. I know it has blessed someone, whether they knew they needed prayer or not.
Oh my goodness Deane, I have been having problems sleeping for weeks, If I manage to get myself to sleep before midnight I am doing good but then I am up again two hours later, I am exhausted, this post came at the perfect time because if it happens again tonight I am praying, I don't know for who or for what I am praying. Thank you so much for this post, I really it needed it today.
Wow...you, Jenifer & me (on Thankful Thursday - Woman to Woman) all posted about Collin. And, the scripture you used in James (5:16) is the same one I used! God is so good!!!
I admit, when I can't sleep, the last thing I think about is praying...I usually end up getting disgusted at not being able to sleep and get up to 'relax' so that I may be able to go to sleep in an hour or two. Perhaps God is calling me to pray and if I would just let go and 'pray' sleep would come.
Thank you for reminding me!
Love you.
I've had more than a few of those nights Deane, and have found that in the stillness of that time I can hear God much more clearly than other parts of the day.
Great post!
Have a Blessed Day!
