Being A Christian

Sometimes it just seems really hard to be a good Christian. That is why Jesus left us with a comforter, the Holy Spirit. I need the Holy Spirit to guide me continually, I don't need Him just a couple of times a day.

Sometimes an evil thought can come to our mind and if we don't watch it we will yield to that thought. He will take it from us if we just ask the Lord to be with us (He already is) and ask Him for guidance in our thoughts.

When someone does something to us that hurts us, sometimes our first thought is to do the same to them. Whoops, this is evil for evil. What is it the Bible tells us? Well, it tells us not to return evil for evil, this is found in Romans 12:17; "Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men." Romans 12:29; tells us "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Even though our mind says 'get even' we know in our heart it is not the right thing to do. I am not saying this is an easy task to do especially if it is the same person doing the same thing over and over, but we know what the Word tells us and with us having the Holy Spirit it is easier and it is the right thing to do.

Prayer is such a wonderful and powerful thing. We can overcome so much easier when we pray. Prayer is something no one can take away from us. The Holy Spirit will help us as we are praying if we just let Him.

When we show kindness towards others and yes, this means the one that has done us wrong, this is showing the world what Jesus can do in our lives. It is easier to do wrong than to do what is right when we are hurting but Jesus is with us. It is He who encourages us and gives us His strength. We learn about His encouragement in II Thessalonians 2:16-17; "Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, v.17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work." We know Jesus would never encourage us to do wrong, that is what Satan does.

Our enemies need our love and prayers as well as Christians. Who better than us to pray for them? Matthew 5:44; "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you:"

It is expected of us to pray for the ones we love and care for, even our enemies do this for the ones they love and care for. Matthew 5:46 says to us; "For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?"

Won't you join me in showing the world what Christians are all about?

We are to trun the other cheek not seek revenge. We need to show the world the love of Christ. Thank you for this reminder.

This is one of the hardest things I think we, as humans, face. It is human nature to seek revenge...but we must remember Matthew 7:12 - it's the Golden Rule - do unto others as you would have them do unto you (my paraphrase). It's not always the popular thing to do, but it is God's way. Treat others as you wants to be treated!!! Thanks for this post.

So thankful that God sent His Comforter to be with us always. We don't have to face this world alone. Amen!
