Blasphemy

When I heard about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit I always worried if I had done this. I don't think anyone knows how I worried about this. I love the Lord with all of my heart and I didn't and don't ever want to be separated from Him.

When I would ask people about this, even the pastor of the church I was going to would tell me blasphemy against the Holy Spirit was to deny Him. Well, I guess people just presumed I was smart enough to know if I had denied Him. To the best of my knowledge I had not done that. It didn't keep me from worrying about though.

I decided the best way for me to find out was to go looking and studying about this. Well, I pray that what I found out years ago is what 'blasphemy against the Holy Spirit' actually means.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a repeated and conscious denial of the Holy Spirit's continual rejection of the Holy Spirit's witness to Christ, His Word, and to His convicting work against sin.

The ones who refuse and opposes the voice of the Holy Spirit removes themselves from the only force that can lead them to forgiveness.

Ephesians 4:30; "And grieve not the holy spirit of God, where by ye are sealed unto the day of redemption". By doing this and continuing to do so leads one to resisting the Spirit. Acts 7:51; "Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your father did, so do ye". This was talking about people who repeatedly refused to obey God and His Word. They yielded to the restraints of God's law and turned to their own ways of the ungodly nations around them. This is resisting the Holy Spirit. People of today need to be aware of this tendency.

Resisting the Holy Spirit will lead into quenching the Holy Spirit. I Thessalonians 5:19; "Quench not the Spirit". Quenching the Holy Spirit's presence and activity is the rejection of the Holy Spirit's supernatural manifestations.

Quenching the Holy Spirit leads to hardening of the heart. Hebrews 3:8; "Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:" When a person allows their heart to harden it will lead to a depraved mind causing a person to think of good as evil and evil as good. Isaiah 5:20; "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter"! One example is sexual perversion. Leviticus 18:22; "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination". Some people of today say it is an alternative life style, that isn't what the Bible says. Another example is abortion. Exodus 21:22-23; "If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her... v. 23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life," God seeks to protect those who are least able to protect themselves.

When a hardened heart reaches a certain point of completeness of development and it is only God who knows and determines this, the Spirit will no longer do all It can to lead that person to repentance.

I found out that all the worrying I had done was for no reason. I should have gone to the Lord in prayer and asked Him. But at least I can tell people, should they ask me about it and I can feel confident about the answer I give them.

I am so glad you stopped by today. May you always know the love, peace, and joy of God.

We Never Know

My post is a following of Jenifer's today. It is about a young man that was killed in a tragic accident. It was a needless thing that happened. This young man had just turned twenty-one and I am sure had many, many plans for his life. You can go to Jenifer's blog by clicking here Life Is Short to read her post.

We just never know when our time on earth is up. We think we have all the time in the world to do the things we want to do but the truth is, WE MAY NOT HAVE ALL THE TIME THAT WE THINK WE HAVE.

That is why we should seek the Lord. We need to be ready whenever our time is up on earth. Christians know where they will go when their time on earth is up. It will be to heaven and we will be with God. But if you have not asked Jesus to forgive you for your sins and ask Him to be the Lord of your life, you will not have the luxury of heaven.

My heart goes out to the ones that are not Christians, the unbelievers, the ones that say there is no God, and the ones that have backslidden (walked away) from Christ. I am so excited about heaven and I want everyone to go to heaven and be with the Lord. I am realistic though and know not everyone will be there.

There are some that believe once you accept the Lord that you have been as they call it 'once saved always saved', I do not believe this. Proverbs 14:14; "The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself". So, a backslider is one who has turned their heart away from the Lord and His righteousness to go their selfish way. This person will acquire the fruit of the decision they make. Whereas the ones remaining faithful to God will acquire the rewards of righteousness in this life and also in heaven.

Romans 8:23; "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord".

We just never know when our time to die will be. Matthew 13:32-33; "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son , but the Father. v. 33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is".

The Word is warning us to be ready for that day as you will not know the day or time of His coming. I Corinthians 15:52; "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump...". It will just be like the twinkling of an eye. You will not be ready if you have not accept the Lord as your Saviour or if you are living in sin. Are you ready for His coming? I pray that you are. Life is just to short to take the chance of waiting for the right time. The right time is now. You can't wait till you have no sin as Jesus is the only way to wipe your sins away. Won't you please accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour right now?

I am asking if you have not accepted Jesus as your Saviour, won't you do it right now? I want to say the sinner's prayer and invite you to say it with me if you are not sure if you are ready for Heaven, if you have never asked Christ into your heart, or if you feel you need to do it again, please say out loud, this prayer:

"Jesus, please forgive me of all of my sins. I am sorry for everything I have done that is not pleasing to You. Help me to turn away from the wrong and seek You. Help me seek You not just on Sunday but every day. Jesus, I love You and I thank You for forgiving me. Amen."

This prayer was borrowed from Jenifer, author of Sweet Blessings.

I want to welcome you to the family of God. May I say you need to live each day for the Lord and be ready for His coming. I want to encourage you to dig into the Word of God and truly know Him and follow Him. It is wonderful having you in the family of God.

I am so glad you stopped by today. May you always know the love, peace, and joy of God.

Honest And Honesty

Honest or honesty. When we speak of honest or honesty we usually think of speaking, not lying but honesty is shown in what we do also.

II Corinthians 8:21; "Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men". God knows exactly what we do and what we think. There is nothing hidden from Him.

If you are at the checkout counter at the store, you pay for the things you have gotten. The cashier gives you back your change and you count it. A mistake has been made. The cashier has given you back five dollars to much. What do you do? Do you keep it or do you tell the cashier about it and return the money? What is the honest thing to do? The honest thing to do is to tell them about the mistake and give the money back to them.

If they short changed you by five dollars, I am sure you would let them know about it. It is usually an honest mistake.

If a person wants to sell something, a car or anything that is mechanical, no matter what a person might want to sell, they should be honest about the item. The seller should tell whoever might be wanting to buy it if there is anything wrong with it, no matter what the condition is. Dave just bought a used PDA, he didn't pay a lot of money for it but because the person selling it didn't say anything about the condition of the PDA he presumed it was in good condition. Wrong!! It does work but the outer case is in worse condition than what the one is that he already has. Now, Dave didn't ask about the condition so it is somewhat his fault but the seller didn't say anything either. There should have been some honesty here but there wasn't.

Whatever we do we need to do the honest thing. When people watch us Christians it is if we are being watched with a magnifying glass. It doesn't bother me that they do this, I want them to see the light of Jesus shinning through me. In our world today there are people that love to ridicule a Christian so if we do nothing but be honest in the sight of men, they will not have anything to ridicule us for.

We can be dishonest with our mouth. If someone asks you a question and you don't really want to say anything then it is better to just tell them you don't want to answer that question. Doing this keeps you from lying. I feel it is much better not to say anything than to lie about something. My mother always told me if a person tells a lie then they have to tell another lie to cover up that first lie. It then becomes a vicious circle. One lie after another. If the truth is told in the first place we don't have to worry about anything, we have been upfront. Telling a half truth is not good. Why tell or say something that is not completely true?

We must always remember to be honest in what we say or do. We are to act Christ like. We are being watched and we need the light of Jesus to shine through us at all times. Not just part of the time. When we are being watched we should always want them to see what a true Christian is like. We need to do that which is honest and of good report.

We need to walk in the righteousness of the Lord. We need to have the righteousness that comes from the heart based on true faith, love, and the fear of God.

Thanks for dropping by, I have enjoyed our visit. May you always know the love, joy, and peace, of the Lord.

My Friend

I wanted to talk to you about friends. All of us want friends. Some have more than others. There are some people that prefer only a few friends. A friend means different things to each person. They say to have a friend you need to be one.

To me, a friend is someone that is there for me when I need them. I can tell them anything and know it won't go any further. They will listen to me and although they don't agree with me, they listen. They give me advice when I ask for it and sometimes when they feel I need advice. They may have to tell me something I don't want to hear but they tell me because they are my friend and they feel it is better for me to know.

I have a special friend in my husband, Dave. I know he is there for me when I need him. I know I can talk to him and confide in him and it will not go any further. He gives me advice when I ask him and sometimes he feels I need advice even though I don't want to hear it. If I am hurting he will put his arms around me and tell me everything will be fine. What would I do without him?

I have a friend in my daughter, Debi. She is always willing to listen to me, tell me what she thinks I need to hear. She is already to help me when I call on her. She is forever working on our computers for us. Before she got laryngitis she knew I would be calling her every Sunday night to ask her something about the Bible. She is a different kind of friend and I don't know what I would do if I didn't have her. Everyone needs a daughter just like her.

My sister, Barb listens to me whenever I need to talk to her. She listens and even though she doesn't agree with me she doesn't condemn me for how I feel. I am glad I have her. She lives in northern Iowa so I don't get to talk to her or see her as much as I would like but when I need her she is there to listen, all I have to do is call her. She is special to me.

Then I have my friend, Pat. I have known her since my high school years. She lives in another town so I don't get to see her as often as I would like but we get together when we can and email each other. She listens to me continually. She is never soft with me, she tells me what I should know. She is kind when she tells me these things, she helps keep me in line. Thank you Pat, I need this kind of friendship.

I have a son, Ken, that I can talk to also. He is not well so I usually don't bother him but if I need him he is right here. He will listen to me and talk to me anytime I call him.

I have another Friend that I could never do without and I never want to be without Him. His name is Jesus. I have known of Him for a really long time, since my childhood but I have had a relationship with Him for many, many years now. Just knowing about Him is not the same as knowing and having a relationship with Him.

Proverbs 17:17; A friend loveth at all times...". A friend loves us all the time, he doesn't stop loving us if he gets upset with us or if we aren't with him all the time. We can't see Jesus but we know He is with us. If we are really quiet and seek His nearness we can feel that friendship He offers to us.

John 15:13; "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends". Jesus laid down His life for me and for you. He showed us how much of a friend He truly is.

We should always seek to know the ways of God. We do this by praying, reading and studying His Word. We grow into such a deep coming together with Him and His purposes that we will be a friend of God's. This friend will never leave us, if we feel alone it is because we have left our Friend, Jesus. May you always remember Jesus is with you.

Thanks for dropping by, I have enjoyed our visit. May you always know the love, joy, and peace, of the Lord.

Getting Excited

Last night as I was reading my Bible, I really got excited. I was reading about the different stages (if you want to call it that) Jesus went through on His way to be crucified. I was not excited because of the torture, pain, humiliation, and dying He went through but I thought; "I hadn't even be born and yet He went through all of this for me". He also went through all of that for you. How could anyone love someone so much that they would go through what Jesus did. This is true love.

Well, I was wondering today, what could I do to show my love for Him. There are many ways we can do this. The Word tells us to love one another, be kind, be compassionate, caring, understand, do not judge, do not be a hindrance, and it says in II Timothy 2:15; "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth".
If we know what the Word of God says we will be able to tell the difference between truth and falsehoods. We are warned in the Bible to heed the ones that want to change what the Bible says. The Bible is the one Book we can trust and be sure it will not be full of falsehoods.

If you are workman and have no training in what you are doing, there will be lots of mistakes in things you do. A workman that is unfaithful or lazy has every right to be ashamed but those workmen that keep to their work are workmen that need not be ashamed. So, a person needs training in their type of work. This is also true with Christians, we need to read and study what the Word of God tells us. When we do this we are being approved of God. We want Him to know how much we love Him, that we want to learn about Him, and what He wants us to know. We need to do our very best for the Lord. We should do no less, Jesus did so much for us.

I get very excited when I am reading and studying the Bible. I know there are things in the Word that God wants me to know. The more I know the more it pleases God. The more I know the more I will be able to tell others. The more I know the harder it is for someone to try to deceive me, especially Satan, the dark one.
The more I read and study the more excited I become. I love being excited. Being excited is not the only reason to study the Word.
Yes, excitement causes me to want to go further into the Word but it also tells me what God wants me to know. Studying God's Word is one way of being approved of and also to show thankfulness for what Jesus has done for me. He didn't have to go through all that agony, torture, humiliation, and dying for me and you but He did because of His love for us. I want Him to know just how thankful I am and how much I love Him. No matter what I do or how much I do, it will never be enough for what He has done for me. Thank you, Lord Jesus.

Thank you for stopping by, I have enjoyed our visit. May you always know the love, joy, and peace, of the Lord.
