Who Is God

The name of my blog is "Who Is God," so I would like to tell you some things about God. I want to say He is an awesome, wonderful, merciful, and precious God to me.

God is the one who created everything. He created heaven and earth, light and darkness, firmament, dry land, light bearer, fish and birds, animals and humans, then He rested, creation was complete and it was good. This is found in Genesis 1.

God knew us before we were ever conceived. Jeremiah 1:5, there are other verses found in the Bible also. If God knew us before we were ever conceived then He had to have planned for us to be here. We are not here by mistake. God brings us into life with a purpose. God has a plan for us. He knows everything about us. Psalms 139:3-4; "Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether."

We are fearfully and wonderfully made. God's work is marvelous. This is found in Psalm 139:14; "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." We are made in the image of God. When we think about this we should feel proud to have been made in His image, Genesis 1:27; So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created He them." We should give Him praise and glory continually.

God loves us with an everlasting love; this is found in Jeremiah 31:3. How could anyone love us anymore than this? He has so much love for us that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ. John 3:16; "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." This is extreme love, I don't know that I could give my son for people that would deny, spit upon, laugh at, and mock him.

The thoughts of God toward us are countless as the sand on the seashore. Psalm 139:17-18 tells us; "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with thee." Isn't it awesome just knowing God thinks about us?

God comforts all of us who have troubles, II Corinthians 1:3-4; "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; (v. 4), Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." By Him comforting us we will know how to comfort others who may need comforting. There are times when God will allow afflictions in ours lives so that we will be able to respond to others. What better way for us to learn?

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights. with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." This is found in James 1:17. Every good gift comes from our Heavenly Father, could we expect anything less from Him?

I hope you have enjoyed reading about our Heavenly Father. I will share a few more things about Him tomorrow. Would you please join me in praising our Heavenly Father?
