A Season For Everything

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" This is found in Ecclesiastes 3:1. I believe almost everyone has heard or read about this. It tells us much about different things.

In our lives we have different seasons. Learning, growing, happiness, sadness, and other ones. Just as the earth has four seasons during a year. They are different from one another but they overlap, sort of speaking. As does the seasons of our life. There is spring, this is the season for planting, rain and new life, summer is for the growing of the harvest, fall is the changing of things, bringing in the harvest, and winter is for cold, freezing, and snow with all of its beauty. Each of these seasons have their own beauty. Different people prefer only one of the seasons or perhaps two.

During the spring the rains bring freshness and new birth such as crops, leaves to the trees, and the beautiful flowers, the smell of the new life is in the air. This brings to my mind babies as this is new life and it is a freshness. This is just the beginning of life and is so exciting.

The summer is the growing of plants. This is the growing season for the babies that were born. They learn new things, the most important thing is about Jesus. They learn this from a young age so that it will stay with them for their lifetime. This in itself is very exciting. Just think, this is what we are doing for the harvest.

Fall is an exciting time. Everything is changing. The colors are bright and brilliant, so exciting. This is the time for harvest, the time when many are ready to receive the gospel. Jesus says in Matthew 9:37; "Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;" Galatians 6:9 says; "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season w shall reap, if we faint not." I Corinthians 15:58; "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."

Now that the harvest is over, winter is here. To me, this represents the time for judgment, this is the time we find out where we will spend eternity.

Each of the seasons in our lives are very important. We need to be working for the Lord at all times, not just when we feel like it. Whatever the Lord gives us or ask us to do for Him, He will give us away of doing it. He would never ask us to do something for Him and then leave us to do it ourselves without His help.

So, in our life we have birth, growing, accepting the Lord and going home to our heavenly Father. During each season of our life, it is important for us to keep our eyes and mind fixed on the Lord. Are we doing our part getting ready for the harvest?

This is a great post. As you said, we will not always feel like working for the Lord. There may come a time when we do not want to go to Bible study, get up early to pray, do work in the church, we just want to sit home. But we must press on and be about the Lord's business. What a sweet reward when we do. Thank you for this.
