Dave received some mail via email today. The information in this was very disturbing to me and I just can't forget about it.
A friend of the person Dave received this mail from passed away. It was sudden and not expected. Life is that way sometimes. The person was writing some things about the man that passed away and the relationship the two couples had. All of it was very nice until it came to the thing that is bothering me. It said he didn't believe in life after death. Then later in the letter it said that she was sure he was looking down and smiling at everyone. To me this is very sad. If he didn't believe in life after death where would he be that he would be looking down smiling at everyone?
I have been looking in the Bible for some Scripture that would help me find out about this. How can a person believe in God but not life after death? I believe a person cannot pick and choose what they believe in the Bible. You have to believe what the Bible tells you, not what you want to believe.
Christians know they will be alive and in heaven when they leave this earth. II Corinthians 5:8; "We are confident, I say, and willing to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord". There is life after death as this is what the Word of God tells us. This is a promise God has given us. We will either be with God or with Satan.
I am so blessed to have God with me and having His Word to read and study. He has given us so much information and we just need to keep reading and rereading and studying. I am so thankful I believe in God and what His Word tells me. When I don't understand something I try to find out what it means even if that means calling Debi and talking to her about it.
It is beyond me how some people choose what they want to believe in the Bible. My feeling is by believing in God you just believe in everything not just this or that. A person believes whatever it is God has chosen to tell us because we love Him and want to obey His commands. To me it is that simple.
John 3:16; "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". This Scripture tells us if we just believe in Jesus Christ we will have everlasting life. I pray everyone reading this will know there is life when we leave our earthly body.
If you don't already know Jesus or you feel the need to rededicate your life to the Lord, I urge you to pray for forgiveness of your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart and be your Lord and Saviour.
Just say this prayer: Jesus, I love you and ask you to forgive me of all of my sins. I ask you to be Lord and Saviour of my life. Guide me in the way you would have me go. I thank you for your love and your forgiveness.
Jesus has forgiven you your sins and you are now in the family of God. All of us welcome you to our family. If you need to know something about the Lord just ask us.
May you always know the love, joy, and peace of the Lord!
