Why Would God Do That

John 3:16; "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life".

I use this Scripture quite a bit. It tells us so much about God and His love for us. Even though I love many people outside of my family I just don't know that I would be able to give my life for the world, I could for my family and there is no doubt about that. I couldn't give my son up for the world either but God did and it was for you and me.

I have heard people say that God loves too much to allow someone to go to hell. It is because of His love that He is able to do this. It isn't God's fault that a person goes to hell, it is there fault. God gave them, you, and me the chance to have everlasting life or not to have everlasting life. It is up to us to do with that chance. Which one will you take?

If you were able to give your son up for the world and said if whoever would believe in him would have eternal life, but to the ones that wouldn't believe in him they wouldn't have eternal life, would you back away from what you had said and go ahead give to them eternal life? I am sure you wouldn't, would you?

The ones that believe in Jesus love Him and want to obey Him. We obey His commandments. It is an on going thing not just once in awhile or when we want to. John 14:21; "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him". Even though our obedience to Jesus is not perfect, it has to be a real thing.

Back to where God loves too much to allow someone to go to hell, if you had two children and one obeyed what you told him/her but the other didn't, would you give discipline to the one that obeyed or would you reward the child that never obeyed you? It is just that simple. It doesn't mean you don't love the child that never obeys but you can't really give to that child like you would the one that obeyed, can you? So it is with God.

In a family if there is no love, compassion, understanding, forgiveness, or obedience all there would be in the family is chaos. Well, it is the same in the family of God. God wants a family that is obedient and not full of confusion. Wouldn't it be terrible to live in a family that was always full of chaos? By obeying the Ten Commandments and other commandments we are making His family obedient. But just obeying these commandments will not get us to heaven; it is through Jesus Christ that we can go to heaven.

Can you understand a little better how God can send someone to hell? It isn't because He wants to it is because they won't believe in His Son and they won't live a Christ like life. It may sound like I have been talking in circles, I haven't meant to but I would like for people to understand it is because of God's love that He doesn't want anyone to go to hell but it is up to the person if they will have eternal life and not go to hell or will they chose not to believe in His Son and go to hell.

Thank you for stopping by and may you always feel the love, joy, and peace of the Lord!

To be honest...God doesn't 'send' us to hell...we send ourselves when we don't obey and when we don't live for Him! God gave us the ability to make a choice...and if we choose to live like the world...we are choosing hell. If we choose to follow God, we are choosing heaven! Sounds simple to me. Thank you for this post. I'm sure it will touch someone today that is seeking!

Love you!

Our actions, our sinful hearts have consquences. Like you said, a parent would not punish the obedient child and reward the disobeint one. Great post.

Can I just say that I am so glad to have met you. I love your blog. It is through your sweet words of encouragement that I take away a new lesson for the day or something I never thought of before. I am still a relatively new Christian (only four years old) and I am so thankful for the people that God has placed in my path.

Blessings to you.

We all serve someone - either God or satan. When we choose to live like the world and away from God, then we are serving satan and we have chosen our path. God loves us so much and desires that none should perish, but we make the choice.
