Being Angry

It is easy to become angry, something we should not do. I feel Satan is watching for a chance to be 'Johnny on the spot' you might say. He certainly was with me today. I am ashamed of myself for allowing him get the better of me but I did. I can think of a lot of reasons why I let myself become angry but not one of them is a valid excuse. I allowed Satan to win and that is all there is to it.

James 1:19; "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath".

Dave and I were at the store and we were at the checkout counter, the sackers will usually ask if you want plastic or paper. I always want my groceries put in a paper bag. The sacker is an elderly man and has always been determined to do what he wants and will never ask which a person wants; he just put the groceries in plastic. I normally watch and tell him I want the groceries in a paper bag but I wasn't paying any attention. So, it was really my fault although the man knows us and knows we want the paper bags used. That still is no excuse but I still became angry.

Jill asked if I needed some paper bags and I told her yes since the man wouldn't put them in paper for me. She told me to just take a couple of bags for the inconvenience. I apologized to her for getting angry but I should have apologized to the sacker also but I didn't. I just looked at him. He knew he had upset me but he didn't seem to care at all.

When we were going to the car I told Dave I was ashamed of myself for getting angry and I knew the Lord wasn't happy with me. Naturally, I immediately asked the Lord for His forgiveness. James 1:20; "For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God".

Had I just paid attention to the sacker when he started to put the groceries in a plastic bag I could have requested paper and none of this would have happened. We really need to be watching as Satan is near by and will put his foot in the door ever chance he gets. In I Peter 5:8; Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour". The believer has been delivered from his power, but as roaring lion he remains a threat to believers, he seeks to destroy them. Anyone that abandons the protection of God, Satan can spiritually destroy them. It is our faith in the blood of Christ, our spiritual warfare by the Spirit, and of course our prayers to God that we are equipped to defeat Satan's plans, and we can defy him and we must stand firm in faith.

Remember what I John 4:4 says to us; "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world". It is through the Holy Spirit that we can overcome the evil in the world, Satan, sin, temptations, trials, sorrows, and false teachings. We can successfully accomplish God's will for our lives. We need to be watchful and continue in prayer for God to watch over us. When we feel ourselves getting angry we should remember it is because of God, the Holy Spirit that we can overcome this.

May you always feel the love, joy, and peace of the Lord!

My sister, Barb is not doing well. I heard from Mike, her oldest son and he has said even though she is somewhat better than Saturday she is not doing very well. They have to keep her sedated because of her condition.

I want to thank all of you for your prayers and I am asking you to continue praying for her. Blessings to each and every one of you.

I totally understand what you went through yesterday! I do it all the time, I am ashamed to say. Jim will get on to me and say that I'm not acting like a Christian. I always justify my actions with some silly, lame excuse! So, I must say "OUCH" on your post today! I am going to remember the scripture from James..."For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God." It definitely spoke to me!

**Still praying for Aunt Barb...and praying for you, too. I know this is hard for you. We want to see God's hand work...OUR way...which isn't necessarily HIS way! The most important thing is that His will is done...even if it isn't the way we want it to be!

I love you!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who still prefers paper bags Deane! The checkout clerks at the local grocery store always look at me like I have two heads when I ask for them at checkout. :-)

I also fall into the "quick to anger" category now and again I'm afraid, although that's something God's worked diligently on with me in recent years and I can happily say I've improved dramatically. It's amazing how when you have the Lord's Peace inside you, how much easier it is to remain calm, and even when Satan rears his ugly head and I feel my pressure rise, God's Voice steers me back to center quickly.

I'm very sorry to hear that Barb isn't improving as hoped... I will absolutely continue to pray for her, and for Christ's Embrace to comfort you as well.

Have a Blessed Weekend!

I like either bag because they are both recyclable. :) However, walmart only offers plastic.

Great post. We had an incident at the boys' baseball game last night with this. It would have been so very easy to get angry. We need to keep our focus on God and stay calm.

Deane, Your family is still in prayers and that His will be done.

Satan was busy this week, he got me good this week, which is why I have been so quiet. I had to keep reminding myself that God is control and he will use it for the good even though I don't know how, and it didn't stop me from coming unglued. I love that you repented of your sin right away, I think that made God smile.

Blessings to you Deane.

Kandi, I think Satan is really working overtime. I am sorry things haven't gone well for you this week. I was wondering what happened that you hadn't posted. I will keep you in my prayers. Yes, God is in control and He knows what has happened, He is right by your side. I am so ashamed that I lost it but I do know God forgave me. Blessings to you, Kandi.
